Presidential Note:  April 2008

Wow! Such excitement in our chapter these past few weeks. If all the good news swirling in the air doesn’t inspire you to get busy writing and submitting, I don’t know what will.

In case you missed the news, Paty Jager recently won an Eppie for her contemporary romance, Perfectly Good Nanny. March also saw the release of Alice Sharpe’s newest Intrigue, Avenging Angel. We’ve had other chapter members add their own good news to our loop, including Danita Cahill’s numerous freelance articles to her local paper and Lisa Pulliam’s essay win. Each success is reason to celebrate and every writing accomplishment brings you that much closer to your ultimate goal. Keep on sharing the good news. We love celebrating with all our members.

April looks to be another exciting month for our chapter. Genene Valleau’s debut novel, Songs of The Heart, is set to release April 4th, and to celebrate, Genene’s hosting a release party at her website. Be sure to pop over and party with Genene on this big day. Our April speaker is our very own long-distance member, Terry McLaughlin, who will be talking about Voice: What It Is, What It Isn’t. I can’t wait to see Terry again in person, and I’m really looking forward to her presentation. Make plans to attend the April 15th meeting so you don’t miss out. And finally, on April 19th we’re hosting a half-day workshop for chapter members to meet and discuss the Michael Hauge/Chris Vogler DVD Set – The Hero’s Journey. This is a fabulous opportunity to discuss character arcs and plotting seen through a different point of view. If you’ve never heard either Hauge or Vogler speak, you won’t want to miss this one. Check the News link for more information about time and meeting place.

As we move into April, I hope you think of all the wonderful things happening in our chapter and that it motivates you to keep working toward your goal.

Happy writing this month.
