Local and regional resources for writers in Oregon's Willamette Valley and elsewhere in the Pacific Northwest.

Bookstores

Albany Book Company - Used bookstore in Albany has a separate room for category romances, and hundreds of single titles shelved with popular fiction and Americana.

All-Oregon Bookstore Directory - Lists over 100 Oregon bookstores by city. Includes address, phone and website where available.

Browsers' Bookstore - Good selection of used books in Corvallis and online. Small romance section.

Powell's City of Books - Oregon-based mega-bookstore has branches in NW Portland and Washington Square, plus a massive online presence.

The Book Bin - Large selection of used books, and some new books as well. Though the Book Bin closed its Albany store, they still have branches in Salem and Corvallis.

Libraries

Salem Public Library - A fine local library. Our Mid-Willamette Valley chapter of the RWA meets in one of their downstairs meeting rooms.

Local Organizations

Field’s End - A writers’ community on Bainbridge Island, Washington, offering writing classes taught by award-winning authors. (Recommended by Susan Wiggs.)

Oregon Writers Colony - OWC is a nonprofit organization representing and nurturing both professional and novice writers. Their oceanside "Colonyhouse" is used for conferences, workshops and retreats.

Pacific Northwest Writers Association

Rose City Romance Writers - Portland area chapter of the Romance Writers of America. They sponsor workshops and the Golden Rose Contest. Several of our Mid-Wilamette Valley chapter members are also members of the Rose City chapter.

Willamette Writers - Portland-based organization provides scholarships, contests and other Oregon writers' resources.
